Comfy Welcomes New Investors Emergence, Microsoft Ventures and CBRE

Posted by Andrew Krioukov on June 8, 2016

Roughly a decade ago, while we were both working on Ph.D.s in Computer Science, Stephen Dawson-Haggerty and I started developing the technology that would one day become Comfy. With the mission to empower occupants and alleviate some of the greatest pain points in buildings, we convinced an all-star team to join us in taking Comfy to scale. After just 2 years, Comfy is now contracted in over 3.5 million square feet in five countries.

Today, we are hitting another momentous milestone. This morning we announced that we closed Series B funding, led by Emergence Capital, with CBRE, Inc. and Microsoft Ventures. This impressive lineup of new investors highlights the strong foothold we have in cutting across industries to drive meaningful change in workplace comfort and productivity. We're also pleased to have our early investors, Claremont Creek Ventures and the Westly Group, participating in the round.

So, what does all this mean for you?

We’ve upbranded, taking on the name of our flagship product, Comfy. For those who are familiar with Building Robotics, makers of Comfy, we’re still the same team of Oakland-based nerds dreaming up unconventional software solutions for everyone—from the people who operate the building to the people who fill it. You can continue to expect the same seamless approach to solving the number one complaint in the office. We'll continue to deliver operational savings, productivity gains, and energy efficiency. We're just streamlining our names. We are now officially The Comfy Team!

Steve and I have come a long way since coding building integration software in our living room (though we still have the same futon in one of our conference rooms). The Comfy vision is clear; the demand is obvious; and it’s evident that people are committed to supporting our growth.

Thank you for being part of our journey. More great things to come soon.
